We are excited to announce the re-launch of the THRIC - Tourism and Hospitality Research in Ireland Conference, which previously ran for 15 successful editions across Ireland from 2005-2019, before being paused as a result of the global pandemic in 2020.

Since 2005 THRIC has contributed significantly to furthering our understanding of the tourism and hospitality industry in Ireland and internationally, from a wide variety of perspectives. THRIC has also served as a welcoming and inclusive arena for everyone from early-stage researchers to established academics to share their research on themes and topics directly relevant to the international tourism & hospitality industry.

Throughout this period THRIC has helped to establish and develop the network of academics & researchers working in tourism and hospitality throughout the island of Ireland.

The relaunched THRIC will form the central academic component of Day 2 of an International Regenerative Tourism Conference, on Wednesday 20th November. However, registration for THRIC will include access to both days of the International Regenerative Tourism Conference, including all social and networking events.

International Regenerative Tourism Conference - Aims and Scope

The overall aim of the conference is to explore the future of sustainable tourism through a regenerative lens. Regenerative Tourism is a new and emerging field of study which goes beyond sustainability and builds on the vision of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in offering a more transformative vision of a future for tourism.

THRIC 2024 is designed to offer an open, engaging forum of keynote lectures, panel discussions and individual paper presentations across a number of concurrent sessions. These presentations will consider and debate a wide range of issues and challenges facing tourism, in turn helping to influence and shape best practice which can be disseminated between academia and industry.

To support postgraduate researchers, we are also delighted to announce that we are facilitating a Postgraduate Seminar this year.

The submission format for THRIC 2024 will be in the format of peer reviewed Abstract + Conference Presentation. *Full papers are not required for THRIC 2024.

THRIC Conference - Themes

Abstracts are invited focusing on the following three themes which are broad and cover a diverse range of issues and topics. However, in keeping with the tradition of THRIC we also welcome any other topic not listed here, provided there is a general emphasis on tourism, hospitality and events.
