Abstract
Introduction The poster presents the current cooperation between Palacký University Olomouc and the NGO Fair Play Point. The NGO has been for almost 20 years organising a project called Football for Development. This project uses football as a tool to tackle different social issues in Czech society. It provides opportunities for marginalized populations to acquire new skills by playing football through a special methodology called football3. The training and tournaments are organized in cooperation with social work centres and thus, a unique synergy is created using football as a tool in social work. The Football for Development programme aims to create opportunities for marginalised women/men and youth (SDG5) and also aims to make the public spaces accessible to different target populations and make them more inclusive (SDG11).
Methodology The poster presents the current ongoing work that is supported by the Palacký University academic staff – an update of the theory of change of the organization and implementation of different monitoring and evaluation tools that are prepared, tested, and discussed in the team made up by experts from the NGO and university. These tools are created to measure different skills the youth is supposed to acquire through fair play football.
Results and conclusions The poster will present sociometry (that has been implemented to measure social cohesion in the group of football3 players), interviews, focus group discussions, and other newly developed tools that are tested in this year’s Football for Development season.
